What is the rule for using make & do?
Generally speaking we use make if the action is creative, e.g. for products & results.
Products are made by a company, made in a country, and are made of a material.
Do is used for actions, process and activities. The action needn’t be stated.
E.g. They haven’t done anything. Please do something.
However, there are many phrases where these rules won’t help you. You need to learn the expressions off by heart: e.g. do your homework / do me a favour
make a mistake / make an effort
do is also used for emphasis, e.g. I do believe… / I do think, however, …
